Ainu Cultural Tours

Join guided cultural walks led by members of the Ainu community, the Indigenous people of Hokkaido. These tours offer rare insight into the Ainu worldview, where every part of nature—from wind and fire to plants and animals—is believed to carry a spirit called kamuy.

While walking through the forest, your guide shares how the Ainu live in harmony with nature, interpreting signs in the landscape and explaining their traditional values. You can also take part in hands-on experiences such as embroidery, wood carving, or playing the mukkuri, a traditional mouth harp made from bamboo.

These programs are not performances—they are a personal invitation to see the land through Ainu eyes and connect with their still-living culture.

Tour Operators

Anytime, Ainutime!

A community-led Ainu cultural experience program in Akanko that is guided by Ainu residents. The content is centered on Ainu perspectives and storytelling through activities such as cultural walks and hands-on elements (e.g., trying the mukkuri mouth harp), delivered as a guided experience rather than a transport-style tour.

Akan Adventure Tourism

A tour operator/DMC based in the Lake Akan area that designs and sells trips combining nature experiences with local culture. Its itineraries commonly bundle multiple components—guided activities, cultural experiences, and logistics—into a single bookable plan, including Ainu culture programs offered in partnership with local providers.
